My full name is Andrew Edwin Jenkins. I’ve been married to my sweetheart for 13 years. We have a house, two cars, six kids, lots of laundry, and more fun than all of that.I’m a thinker, a writer, a teacher… a guy who’s led in churches and non-profits, a guy who’s preached and taught and done a bunch of other stuff, too. I’ve been overwhelmed by my Father’s grace.
My fabulous wife loves serving women when they are birthing their babies (“doula” is the word). She teaches about natural childbirth, she home schools our children, and she prays. When she does, she hears the Lord. I’m honored to be on this journey with her.
We have six kids. The most common questions we get are:
- “Are they all yours?” (meaning, ours together- or were some hers and some mine and then we got married. Answer: they’re all ours).
- “Have you figured out what causes it?” (or, some version of that- i.e., Do you have a TV?, etc.). Answer: What do you think? Do you think we’ve figured it out?
The kids are incredible. They pray, they serve… they love doing ministry. And, of course (since they’re kids), they love swashbuckling, too. FYI, they always get a prize when they’re in public and someone remarks about how well behaved they are… so throw them a bone next time you see them. They’ll never forget you. I promise.
The kids are 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 1… Besides these six, another one’s in heaven. They include:
- A budding author who leads small groups / Bible studies and leads other kids to Jesus.
- A tender young lady who is (already) becoming a tender motherly figure and faith healer (no kidding).
- A young boy who loves to preach, has mastered Legos, and still finds time to ride his electric scooter with me when I run.
- Another young boy who is genuine, loves people- and people love him.
- The Sweet (self-explanatory, especially after you meet him).
- And the youngest… who is still trying to make sense of it all.
Most of what we do, we do together. You’ll see us (together) at the Prayer Force United prayer walks and serving at other places in the city when we’re not roller-skating, staying up to midnight for a “movie night” (the kids’ favorite- the way they count in all birthdays, holidays, and anything else you can think of), or going on some other adventure.
